Dear friends and colleagues,
I welcome you as a Chair of the 2nd Panhellenic Symposium on Relational Psychoanalysis and Group Psychotherapy under the title : Traumatic Rupture and repair: fantasy or reality?
The symposium’s title encompasses the fundamental efforts of the analytic dyad, the social, national and international groups to recognize, metabolize, overcome trauma and/or mourn the traumatic condition. In this endeavor, the intersubjective transaction is consciously and unconsciously mixed with trans-generational others on a regional, national and international level. Time becomes subjective and is sometimes experienced as timeless. Memory and oblivion intersect, life and death urges collide, psychic parts remain hidden or emerge for the first time. What will prevail after trauma? What happens when our identity is primarily defined by trauma? How does the intrapsychic meets the interpersonal? And how does the individual meets the various groups in traumatic circumstances?
These are only some of the questions we will aim to answer. On Friday, January the 26th , 2024, we will be meetimg online with prominent international solely speakers. The commencing weekend of January the 27th to 28th , we will be meeting in person at the School of Public Health of the University of Western Attica, 196 Alexandras Ave., Athens.
